The little bug, Henry, was just too squishy and adorable! Time after time, I get so giddy meeting brand new babies and always feel so honored that their parents have entrusted me to photograph their first few days of life! Chris and Sara were simply smitten with their little guy. How could you not be?! Henry was just barely over a week old when I came for the shoot. Walking into their beautiful home in Seattle, I knew it was going to be a great session. Their nursery was adorable, complete with fun wallpaper and a sheet music print of "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”. Very fitting for the child of a musician. In fact, in order to incorporate Chris’s talent as a drummer, he pulled out one of his toms for baby Henry to lay on for a couple shots. It turned out pretty darn cute! It was a lovely morning and I think we captured some very tender moments. Enjoy my favorites below!

Weddings will always hold a very special place in my heart. It’s where I got my start in this photography business and it still brings me joy to capture true love on such a monumental day! But the more I photograph newborn sessions, the more in love I fall with documenting one of the deepest loves that exist: the love of a parent for their child. It’s just so beautiful and those first moments with a newborn are so fleeting! What’s the saying? The “days are long, but the years are short”! This couldn’t be more true in the life of a parent. Those early days are exhausting but they also go by so fast and before you know it, your newborn babe is a talking, waddling toddler! Which is why I’m so honored to photograph those beginning days.
Just like I love hearing how my couples got engaged, I’m always excited to hear the story of labor! It’s always so unique to each and every mama. Being that Saxon is a friend and neighbor, I got some live action updates the day of labor! At 4:30 pm on Feb 28th, 11 days past her due date, labor finally started. Not sure if it was the castor oil shake she had earlier in the day or if baby Charlotte just decided it was time, but things got moving…and quite quickly! Having planned a birth center delivery, Saxon wasn’t sure if they should head over or not because she didn’t want to be turned away if it was too early. Little did she know, baby girl was coming faster than she imagined. By the grace of God, she recalled to me that her labor wasn’t super painful, which is why she was so surprised things had progressed so fast. At about 6:30 pm, she realized Charlotte was coming soon and they wouldn’t have time to make it to the birth center. After a 911 call, Saxon ended up delivering at home and Ian “caught’ the baby just before 7:30 pm! One of the most exciting labor stories I’ve heard in awhile!
It was such a treat to come take pictures for the happy family in their new cozy home. I’m looking forward to watching Charlotte grow and having another little girl in the neighborhood for my daughter to eventually play with!
Having just celebrated my daughter’s first birthday, I’ve been reminiscing over all the first days and weeks of her life. They were hormonal, overwhelming, tiring and somehow beautiful all at the same time. I really do cherish that first part of her life. Everything was new and foreign, but so wonderful that she was finally in our arms! So whenever I do a newborn shoot now, I am taken back to those beginning weeks and remember them fondly because they were fleeting!
Jaime and Izzy honestly seemed like naturals. I came in to greet Jaime and she was ever so calmly trying to dry off little Mateo after a bath while he cried profusely. She was not phased and I loved it! She simply continued to dry him and wrap him up and all was well again. Jaime was all smiles from beginning to end. Despite the cries here and there, no one was frantic and everything went smoothly! Izzy and Jaime just looked so in love with Mateo. He was absolutely adorable...all 6 pounds of him! Just a little peanut who was wide awake for the whole session. He was full of life and they were full of love. Very happy for the two of them and hope to have many more family shoots in the future!
Oh, new baby bliss! Being that this is my first newborn shoot since giving birth to my own little one in March, I can relate to the new parent feelings so much more! The sleep deprivation mixed with the adrenaline of visitors. The awe and wonder of all your baby's tiny features. And of course the overwhelming amount of love you have for a human that you literally just met! Janna and Liam are feeling these things and more with little two-week-old Juniper Nelle. It was such a joy to see my friends and meet their new addition. I was all too eager to take some newborn photos for them and capture this short period of time where Juniper is this tiny! Because as a mom myself now, I know the cliche, "They grow so fast," is so TRUE! Babies really do change so quickly in their first year, which is why I think it's so important to document each stage as they develop. I know without a doubt Janna and Liam are going to be amazing, loving and supportive parents. Juniper is a lucky girl!
What a bundle of joy! Zoey was a doll and so peaceful throughout the shoot. She slept soundly through the beginning and even when she did wake, she still was so easy. Just a mid-shoot feeding and she was calm as can be. Zoey was comfy in mom or dad's arms. Christina and Aaron were so lovely to work with as well! Lack of sleep didn't phase them. They were ready and willing to cuddle and kiss baby Zoey and just soak up the joy of finally having their baby in their arms. Really happy for this growing family and I wish them the best of luck as their daughter grows!
I love that so many of my dear friends had babies this year and I had the privilege of documenting these precious babes in their first days of life! To round out the year of newborns, my best friend Amanda brought a second baby boy into the world! Needless to say I couldn’t be happier for her and her new family of four. She’s in pure mom heaven. Every time I’ve seen her since Jason was born, I can just tell this is where she wants to be: home with her two precious boys. I think she was meant for motherhood, no doubt. I’ve already witnessed how amazing she has been with her first son, Noah, and how he has turned into the sweetest three-year-old I know!! He is obsessed with his new baby brother and can’t stop kissing, hugging and holding him. It was really special to see the bond he already has with Jason during our shoot. He just wanted to be near him the whole time! Of course we had to get some photos of just the two of them together to capture that brotherly love. We had a whole variety of shots for this at home session, including a nod to Noah's newborn session when we put him in a baseball bat! This time Jason got a football shot, just for daddy! I’m hoping 2017 will bring in some more opportunities for newborn photo sessions because it’s been lots of fun!
What a lovely day for fall mini sessions! It was definitely a hot day, but once I found a patch of shade beneath the beautiful oak trees out at Testarossa Winery, I was set! I started the day pretty early to fit in as many sessions as possible. Admittedly, at first I was a tiny bit worried it would be too bright since I'm a sucker for golden hour shots, but once things got going, I was more than happy with the lighting. Some shade does wonders! Wendy and Kevin came all the way down from South San Francisco with their adorable baby girl for their first set of family photos! I was super flattered they made the trip down and was pleasantly surprised Hailey was calm as can be. She looked straight at the camera right off the bat and I knew this session was going to be a breeze! For only 3 months old, Hailey did fantastic. It was the perfect amount of time for baby girl and I think the shoot was a success! Stay tuned for some more photos from other mini sessions that day ;-)
It's been such a joy to witness so many close friends journey into parenthood this year. Not only have I been able to keep up with their pregnancies but I've been honored to document their maternity and then their brand new babies once they come into the world. You may recognize some familiar faces if you saw my recent maternity shoot back in August. I know Shanay has been ready for Lincoln for a long time, but baby boy had a plan of his own. After nearly two weeks waiting past the due date, he finally made his arrival! I was very excited to meet him and even more excited to capture these photos for the happy family. I'm looking forward to watching him grow and hope for many more family photos in the future!
One of the best parts of my job is getting to witness and document the happiest moments in people's lives! When I stop and think about how amazing that is, I can only say that that's a true blessing! Running a business is tough, but capturing memories for people to last them years to come is absolutely worth it. For this couple, I've been especially lucky to not only photograph their gorgeous wedding day, but just last week I got to meet their beautiful baby girl, Kinsley! The shoot flowed perfectly and Kinsley was so cooperative. She slept, she posed, she stared at the camera...everything we needed! It's always so heartwarming to see brand new parents look at their baby in their arms. Robin and Matt were nothing short of in-love with Kinsley and I just know they are going to be wonderful parents! Best of luck in the early months you two. Can't wait to see you all again for another family shoot!
I've been thoroughly enjoying taking on more and more newborn shoots recently. It's such a joy to see friends bring new lives into the world and to witness that sweet bond between parent and child! It wasn't long ago that I got to photograph Jackie for her maternity shoot and here we are again with baby Nolan now with us, just a few weeks later. He came a bit early, but Jackie had no complaints! Thank goodness she made it to the hospital in time though. Nolan was more than ready and wasted no time gracing the world with his presence. Within only 5 minutes of getting to the hospital, Jackie and Brian welcomed him into their arms! Now with two little ones under two years old, the Gomez family will definitely have their hands full, but they are such wonderful parents already, I know they've got this under control! Here's a peek at some of darling photos from the in-home session :-)
In the final set of images from my mini shoots this year, I've got another darling family of three with SUCH a cute little one year old girl! Emily was so stinkin' adorable, I could have photographed her all evening! She was a mover and shaker and loved my dinosaur friend from Shutter Huggers. She mostly wanted grab it off my lens and play with it though, haha! I had a wonderful time with the Smolen family and just kept shooting till we lost our last bit of sun behind the horizon. I met so many friendly, fun and loving families this year and I'm so grateful to have made new connections with them all. I'm definitely looking forward to next year's round of mini shoots! Follow my blog to be the first to find out when they'll be!
Here's my second session of the week that I shot at Holbrook Palmer Park! Such a cute family with the sweetest little girls. I can tell Addy is a great big sister already to her 6 month-old sister Emily. It was darling watching her try to get her to smile for the photos, even though baby Emily seemed a little camera shy. I love big sisters, since I have two amazing ones of my own! Both of them had such beautiful blue eyes and blonde, blonde hair. Darling girls and I hope I get to photograph them more over the years as they grow up. It was another quick session, but full of giggles and big smiles. Glad I had the opportunity to meet another wonderful family during the holiday season. Big thanks to the Hughes family for connecting us!
When Erin and Aaron first reached out to me looking for photographer for family photos, I was honored! I mean, I'm ALWAYS flattered when any client asks me to photograph them, but this was even more special to me because they had just moved from Arizona and were in the market for a new photographer. And if anyone knows, there are SO many photographers in this area and lots with great talent! They could have contacted any one of them, but I'm so happy they reached out to me! Such a sweet couple and a darling one-year-old baby boy! And if you're curious like I was, red hair runs in the extended part of the family :-) I wish I could have spent more time with them, but being that it was a mini session series I had to cut it off and meet the next family (which will be featured tomorrow)! I think we got some great shots of the happy family of three, although I do hope for many more sessions with them in the future!
If you know me at all, you know I love kids. Enough to have worked as a tutor for all ages of elementary school, as a preschool aide, and as a nanny for a family of three! I find my experience with young children has been more than helpful when it comes to photo shoots with little ones! I'm no guru, that's for sure, but I know how to let my guard down, have fun and downright be silly in order to get genuine smiles during my shoots. It's not always easy, especially if the kiddos are fussy or really have no desire to take pictures whatsoever, but it's fulfilling when I finally get those true moments when they crack a smile and open up to the camera for me. The best moments are the giggles, the kisses for mommy or daddy and when they are truly just having a good time!
I have been lucky enough to travel to many countries around the world and see beautiful monuments & artwork, breathtaking landscapes, vibrant oceans and gorgeous sunsets. But even after seeing all these wonderful things, the most amazing thing I've witnessed in my life has to be the birth of my nephew. The way God designed us mere human beings to create, grow and birth another human life is beyond fascinating to me and is a beautiful reminder of how incredible He is. I've never seen the birth of a child before in any capacity and I felt truly honored to be by sister's side when she gave birth to her very first baby, Jackson. She was so strong throughout the labor and pushed like a pro! I was very proud of her that day and of course still am! I could go on and on about how amazing it is to see her as a new mom and how much I look up to her, but I'll keep it short and sweet. :-) The newest member of my family is a ball of joy and is absolutely adorable! I took a ton of photos of him, naturally, and was so sad to leave him only a week after he was born. I am so in love with this little guy and I can't wait to visit them again and just stare at his precious face. I snapped the first photo in the delivery room and the rest of the series is Jackson at just six days old.
Born May 7th weighing 7 lbs. 10 oz.
Darling baby Reese was only 14 days old and already had an agenda of her own! She wasn't a big fan of getting her picture taken, being naked or falling asleep, but she was still precious as can be! Nevertheless, with the help of her parents, we got some adorable shots of her intermittently snoozing away! With careful balance and gentle touch, we swapped props in and out and changed up the set a bit to add variety. Between the cute baby beanies and the snuggly stuffed animals, we got some peaceful shots of little Reese at her best. Enjoy the photos!
I just love my clients! I had the awesome opportunity to photograph Kalynn's wedding back in July 2012. Shortly after she got married, she and her new husband got pregnant and almost exactly a year after their wedding, baby Everly was born! Being away from most her friends and family though, Kalynn didn't get the chance to have her traditional baby shower before she gave birth. But a party is better late than never! So with the help of Kalynn's amazing mother, aunt's, and friends, they pulled together this AMAZING tea party in just two weeks! It was complete with antique china, DIY decor, and vintage items all from family members' homes. Lovely party, lovely people, and an adorable baby to meet. Enjoy the pictures!
If anyone has been following my blog, you may remember the maternity shoot I posted a couple months ago with Amanda. Well, with every successful pregnancy, a healthy baby comes at the end! Amanda and her husband Julio are now the lucky parents of a beautiful baby boy, Noah. As I had mentioned before, I've known Amanda my whole life so we're basically sisters, which means I'm practically a new auntie! Noah is a darling baby and I had so much fun on this shoot, admiring his tiny toes and mini fingers :-) They both are very blessed and I'm so excited for them and what they have in store for their blossoming family.
Three generations: Grandma, mom and baby!
Sporting his mom and dad's love of baseball ;-)
Already dressing up in daddy's tie!
What a treat it was to photograph newborn baby Lianna. At less than two weeks old, she was a surprisingly easy subject! She slept nearly the whole shoot, which allowed us to dress her up and play with props! Her two older brothers got to join us too with loving kisses and helpful hands. I'm hoping this leads to more newborn photo shoots...spread the word!
Part of my life is spent as a photographer and part of my life is spent taking care of three wonderful and beautiful kids. Last Friday I decided to combine both worlds and have some fun! Here are the results of some quality playtime out in the backyard with my favorite kiddies. They weren't the least bit camera shy!
