In this next installment of the Vivify Workshop wedding inspiration shoots, I've got some amazing vendors to feature today! For starters, how cool is this table design by Mariee Weddings with the artistic elements of Pleasanton Rentals, flowers by Bloom Bar Coand stationary compliments of The Idea Emporium?!Read More

It's always funny when you meet someone and you just click and later you find out, you could have met them a long time ago through some mutual connection! That's actually how I feel about meeting my own husband. We grew up in the same church and even though we went there for years, our paths never crossed until one unique Sunday morning.Read More
When Brenda told me she wanted to have a romantic beach setting for her engagement shoot, I immediately was game! With the weather we've been having, it's been hit or miss with the sunshine so I definitely had my worries approaching the shoot.Read More
The second installment of fall mini shoots is here today! I can't get enough of this hidden gem just outside of Alum Rock in San Jose. I wish this trail had a proper name, but maybe it's best I keep it as my own little secret :D It's the perfect spot for some fall foliage and has enough space to roam around to mix up the background. It was a great location for my session with the Hughes family! They were such a loving bunch with the sweetest little kids. Tanner was full of life and Allie has the brightest blue eyes! Loved our shoot and hope we can do another next year!
I just love fall. The colors, the brisk air, the excuse to wear boots and scarves! Now I have a new favorite thing to add to my list... fall mini sessions! This was my second year offering them to clients and it turned out to be a hit! It was such a great way to meet so many new families and their adorable little kids. Hopefully I'll be able to photograph these families for years to come! First in this week's series of mini sessions, I'm featuring Kate, Mike and Greyson: A fun-loving couple with their sweet little 2 year-old boy. Greyson was a bit of a tough shell to crack at first, but he sure did love when his daddy threw him up in the air! We got the timing down just right...throw him a couple times, laugh and giggle and then click! It's always funny how when I put my camera down, the real smiles always come out. Sometimes I get lucky when we call it a wrap, but then I keep taking shots on the way back to the car. I have my tricks ;-) Big thanks to Kate for setting up this shoot with me. Hope to do more with you guys in the new year!
Can I just say, Katie and Cam are adorable! I think it's so funny that they said they are normally awkward in front of a camera and not very photogenic. Ha! First of all, they are such a good looking couple no matter the face they were making they made it look good ;-) But really what it comes down to is that they are so in love, every photo shows that authenticity and adoration for each other. That's all I care about anyway...showing off their love in a snapshot! Between their giggles and embraces, I think we got some great photos from the shoot. Rancho San Antonio was the perfect spot for a fall engagement and we got there at the perfect time of day before our light hid behind the hills. And you all know I'm a sucker for some epic golden light! I'm really excited for Katie and Cam and am so happy they asked me to be even just a small part of this special time in their lives!
Photography is fun and I love creating images, but my job is even better when I have easy-going, enthusiastic clients who are so obviously in love! Megan and Stefan were exactly that! All I had to do was place them in a spot, and within seconds they already were laughing and smiling at each and I didn't even say a word. It was perfect! I just kept snapping away at all their natural, loving interactions. We photographed at one of my favorite places, Picchetti Winery in Cupertino and truly had a great time. Unfortunately we were followed by flies the entire session (I swear we didn't smell!) but luckily the flies were a source for lots of laughs! Megan and Stefan were awesome to shoot with and I can't wait for their wedding next year at Bargetto Winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
If you live in California, you know how bad the drought has been and how the forecast of rain has been few and far between. With our luck, we apparently scheduled the engagement shoot on the one day the Bay Area finally saw rain! Erin and Edgar were such troopers though and toughed out the rainfall, even though it started coming down pretty hard. We found shelter in the nearby trees and nearly called it a day, but they ending up braving the cold, wet trail and even danced in the rain! It wasn't long after we decided to walk back to the car that a rainbow came out for a brief minute and then dissipated into the suddenly blue sky. How could we call it quits then? Naturally we decided to keep shooting and I'm glad I ended up getting some very sweet and also playful shots of the happy, and slightly damp, couple. I'm really looking forward to their wedding in Morgan Hill this coming October. I may have to pack an umbrella, just in case!
Amongst the concrete jungle of the Bay Area, there are still pockets of beautiful nature, golden fields and vibrant greenery. I'm so happy Niccolina and Ryan suggested we shoot at Ulistac Natural Area in Santa Clara since I've never had the chance to really explore that part of the city before. I love how I've lived in this area my whole life and still have so many new places to seek out and photograph! Ryan, a native New Yorker, and Niccolina, originally from the Bay Area herself, live just down the street from this little gem and decided it was a quiet, secluded spot we could use to document their love and life together. They are such a sweet couple and I'm looking forward to shooting their wedding in September at the gorgeous Stanford Memorial Church!
Shooting a maternity session was such wonderful way to celebrate love on Valentines Day this year! Celebrating the love between a married couple and the love of their expected child is really special and I'm so happy I got to photograph this part of my sister and brother-in-law's journey together. I've said it before and I'll say it again; pregnancy is just such a beautiful thing. My sister would probably disagree with that statement after all the "morning" sickness she's experienced and the major change to her body, but as her little sister, I just admire her so much. Just look at her...she's so beautiful! She opted for a whimsical look, wearing an adorable flower crown which worked so nicely with the field we shot at in the Calaveras Hills in Milpitas. The sun was hitting the hills just perfectly and made the shoot look so magical. Her baby bump is still small, but growing day by day. I'm so happy for her and her husband Marcus and I am just so anxious to meet their baby boy in May. This is will be not only the first nephew in our family, but the first grandchild! For my parents who raised all girls, this will be a fun change for them to have a boy in the family. I can't wait to be an aunt! Plus I'm really looking forward to shooting some awesome newborn shots! ;-)
I am so excited to share this engagement session with everyone! As you could probably tell from my lack of blog posts, I've been on a bit of a hiatus with shoots. But I'm back at it and ready for another wonderful year of love and laughter! I couldn't have asked for a better way to start off the new year than with Katie and Ben. Katie had the brilliant idea to do the shoot at her parents' property. You couldn't tell from the pictures that this darling ranch is just tucked away right off the road in the foothills of east San Jose. It's a gorgeous piece of land, complete with a barn, tractors, chickens and even donkeys! A country girl at heart, Katie grew up raising and riding horses so it was only natural for them to incorporate that ranch feel into the engagement session. Ben brought out his banjo too for the ultimate folk feel! My favorite part of the shoot though was when we trekked down to the yellow mustard field and literally put a leather chair from the living room out in the flowers. It made for some fun photos! The ultimate cherry on top was having my husband shoot along side me. He's still a photographer in training, but he's got the eye and shot some great photos. Detail shots below compliment of Nick :-) Thank you to Katie and Ben for such a great time!
What a wonderful year it has been not only for me, but for so many of my friends and family! Between my sister's wedding, my own wedding, family friends getting married and many couples getting engaged, it's been one heck of a year full of love! Andrew and Shanay are dear friends of mine who recently got engaged in June. I was even lucky enough to be right there when Andrew popped the question and I got to snap some photos of the special moment. They have long been supporters of my photography work and I am so grateful for their encouragement. I was flattered that they wanted me to shoot their engagement photos, especially since they have hired a different photographer for their wedding day so I could actually sit back, relax and enjoy their wedding in April! See, what thoughtful friends! We had a great time exploring Rancho San Antonio and taking all these fun shots. They were so natural in front of the camera and made my job super easy. I barely had to pose them; their love and affection shined throughout all their pictures. If you can't tell already, I'm sooo happy for them and I cannot wait until their wedding!
For anyone who follows my photography blog, you might recognize Pichetti Winery as one of my favorite places to shoot. It's just such a sweet spot and it's got beautiful scenery. Granted, you can't tell from the photos, but it's definitely a work-out to go hiking from each spot to the next! In the end, I think it's worth it and the results are worth the sweat! Monica and Brian were such troopers and I had a lovely time chatting and getting to know more about their lives. Looking forward to shooting their wedding in October at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose. I imagine it's gonna be a fun party! Thanks for great shoot you two!
I'm so thankful to have had the chance to shoot up in Fremont, CA at Coyote Hills Regional Park. It was my first time shooting up there and now it's one of my favorite places to shoot in the spring. The fields of yellow mustard flowers are just gorgeous and they bring such a pop of color and life to these engagement photos. Naomi and Nelson were easy going and ready and willing to walk all around the park with me to find the best spots. I'm so glad they were up for weeding through the fields so I could catch these shots of them surrounded by the beautiful nature the park has to offer. I'm looking forward to their wedding in July at the Palmdale Estates in Fremont.
I have nothing but great things to say about Kira and Steven. They are one of the sweetest couples I've had the opportunity to work with and their love is evident on and off camera. I'm very excited to shoot their wedding this coming May at Guglielmo Winery in Morgan Hill! I love that they both wanted to show off different sides of their personality through their engagement photos; one shoot being out in a field and the other showcasing their home in downtown San Jose. This first set we shot at Rancho San Antonio in the hills of Cupertino. We had beautiful light to work with and found a variety of little spots to shoot. Stay tuned for their second set of photos in downtown!
