The idea that God gave us a dose of his power to create is something miraculous. Because it's not just art, music, technology and whatnot; He gave us the ability to participate in the creation of life! It truly amazes me. Pregnancy, birth and watching a child grow is something so special in any parent's life. To be asked to photograph Samantha and Daniel's maternity session for their first child was very honoring. Just over a month before their baby girl's arrival, we met over at Natural Bridges State Beach to capture that beautiful light and that adorable baby bump! Also, can we just take a moment to swoon over Samantha's flowing, pink dress?! It was really fun to play with during the shoot and photographed so well! Both Daniel and Samantha were so great to work with and had my husband and I laughing the whole time. I'm very happy for the expecting couple and wish them well in their delivery!

From high school to college to getting married (twice now!) Ryn and Patrick have gone through many seasons together! Meeting over a decade ago, these two have literally grown up side by side from their teenage years to their young adult lives. In fact, they've known each other so long that Ryn's dress is actually the same dress she wore back when she and Patrick went to Junior Prom together! How adorable is that?! After many years of dating, they finally tied the knot last year in their Catholic church with their family by their sides. Just a few months later, their baby Elizabeth was born and changed their lives! Not having had the full wedding experience with all their friends and family, Patrick and Ryn decided to plan a vow renewal and go all out on a proper party! That's where I come in :-)
The day was a hot and sunny one, but full of joy, laughter and many sentimental tears! Patrick and Ryn were so easy going and made the day a piece of cake! Speaking of cake, the best treat of the day was taking them out for their evening couple's portraits. We got the light just right and the beautiful eucalyptus trees down on the course at Seascape Golf Club looked breathtaking! It was definitely a fun day and I hope Ryn & Patrick got the exact wedding they were hoping for!
I love how engagement sessions have become a thing in modern wedding photography! I for one love them, sometimes even more than the wedding day, haha! Mainly because it's relaxed, it's fun and there's lots of time to get to know my couple's better. I'd say it's one of the best ways for me to bond with all of my clients! For me, that relationship is very important and I find this extra time shooting with my couples has been so helpful in developing a friendship and trust that lasts past the wedding day.
All that to say I'm very happy Kathryn and Patrick decided to do an "engagement" shoot with me, because really it wasn't an engagement shoot since they're already married! These sweethearts tied the knot earlier this year actually, but kept it very small. Still wanting the big celebration with all their friends and family, they opted to throw a full on party, complete with vow renewals this coming June! This time around, they get to have their brand new baby girl by their side when they say "I do" number two. So for our shoot at Henry Cowell Redwoods, we did a little mixture of romantic shots and of course some family photos. It worked out just in time for Christmas too. Hopefully they can use a few for holiday cards this year! I had such a wonderful time with them all on our shoot. It's always so sweet to see a couple who is bursting at the seems with love for each other that all they can do is smile, laugh and kiss! Kathryn and Patrick were so darling together and I'm really excited I get to be a part of a very special day for them in 2017!
If there's one thing I love about shooting weddings, it's getting to meet so many amazing people. Megan and Stefan are one of the sweetest couples I've had the pleasure of working with. We hit it off right away and through the year since they booked me, it's been so awesome getting to know them better. I couldn't be happier they chose me to photograph such an important day! From the start of the day, there were nothing but smiles, laughter and good company. I think Megan had permanent smile on her face the whole day and that's just how a bride should look! She was radiant! I could feel the love emanating from all their family and friends who came out to witness their lovely wedding and celebrate such a big commitment! Bargetto Winery, nestled in beautiful Santa Cruz, was the perfect venue for such an intimate wedding. I think everything came together perfectly and I wish Megan and Stefan the best in their marriage! I look forward to staying in touch with the new Mr. & Mrs. Kazmi and hopefully photographing many more special moments as their family grows!
What do you get when you combine vintage furniture, bow ties, cotton balls, and some dapper gentlemen? This shoot! :D I was beyond excited when Annaliza and Andrea, the boss ladies behind Seventh Heaven Vintage Rentals, reached out to me to photograph their latest #SHVintageCuratorVibes styled shoot! This "Dapper Darling" bachelor party inspiration shoot was one the most creative ways to show off their mid-century furniture and props. Everything you see can be rented through SHVR for your wedding, party or next shoot (men not included)! It was a great afternoon getting to play with different sets, various props and just have some fun in the process. Everyone involved did a fabulous job! I sure hope to do more of these types of shoots in the future!
From beginning to end, this was a beautiful day! Shooting at Regale Winery in Los Gatos was a dream. The garden area, the bridal suite, the view and that cute barn were all perfect! In fact, I think I found a new favorite venue :) Susan looked gorgeous in her Maggie Sottero dress and sexy Nina shoes complete with an ankle bow! I could have taken pictures of her all day long if I had the chance. But alas, there were many other things to photograph during the full-day celebration. From the bridal details, to the heartfelt vows to the hilarious choreographed father-daughter dance, I had lots of memorable moments to capture. Yet even after all the partying, there's still round two over in Scotland where Susan's parents are both from. At the end of their amazing European honeymoon, the happy newlyweds still have another wedding reception to attend across the pond! Can you say jealous?! All jokes aside, I'm very happy for Brett and Susan and wish them nothing but the best for their marriage! Thank you guys and your family for asking me to be a part of such a special day!

This has been such an exciting year for so many of my close friends! Between engagements and new babies, it's been such a treat to photograph these special moments for them! Last December Shanay and Andrew they told us the news that they'd be having a baby this year and of course we were incredibly happy for them. Fast forward a few months and they are just a few weeks away from welcoming a baby boy into their lives! To commemorate this beautiful time, we headed out to Four Mile Beach in Santa Cruz for some sweet maternity photos. It went from really hot in San Jose, to pretty cold and windy on the shore. Luckily Andrew and Shanay were good sports about it all and we just had to laugh off the wind blown hair and the chilly temp! It's always a good time shooting with friends, no matter the circumstances. I can't wait to meet their little one and see these two loving people become parents. It will be such a joy! <3
It is with much joy and excitement that I write this post today! Of course I'm happy for all my couples who are about to getting married, but Christy is especially dear to my heart! After having spent a year and a half in Bible study together, you get to know a person really well. It's been such a pleasure to get to know her and really watch her grow in so many ways. I was so happy to hear that she got engaged and was even happier when I finally got to meet Vinay and photograph them together! It's no secret, these two make each other very happy. There was laughter throughout the whole session and evident love every time they kissed.
I loved all the sentimental touches to the shoot as well. Christy wanted to do the session at New Brighton State Beach over in Capitola, since they have a fond memory of a date here where they stopped at the beach and then got lost for hours in the neighborhood nearby trying to find their car. It's not so bad when really all you want to do is spend time with the man you're crazy about anyway! Any excuse to spend that extra time together will do. They also brought some Starbucks cups, as a nod to their very first date. It really was a lovely evening and I was so happy I could capture these photos for them to remember this very special time in their lives!
