The lovely Yoana of Beauty by Yoana, has been in the beauty industry for nearly 8 years and is also a licensed esthetician. So if you’re looking for your skin to glow, your lashes to lift or a make-up palette that suits your style, here’s your girl!
She travels for makeup appointments around the area, including cities like Bonney Lake and Puyallup, but also has her own studio space in Tacoma for her esthetic appointments open Thursday-Saturday. I was able to interview her recently in case any of my clients were interested in professional make-up. Below are some of her fun facts!

Where are you based and how long have you been a make-up artist?
I’m based out of Tacoma. I have a studio in downtown Tacoma but am a traveling artist for makeup services. I started with makeup almost 8 years ago. I loved the idea of helping women and channeling my creative side as well. So that’s where I began and slowly added esthetics about 3 years ago. I specialize in lash lifts, brow laminations, and sugaring hair removal.
What do you love about your job as a make-up artist & an esthetician?
I love being able to help and empower woman to feel and be confident in their own skin.
What is your process like for a make-up client? How do you help them feel beautiful, but still true to themself?
We will set up a phone call consultation before setting up any dates for trials if it’s a wedding. If it’s just a special occasion we still talk via phone and exchange pictures of what we’re wanting. We talk about what their desires are for makeup and any concerns they with makeup in general. We set up a date for a trial or day of makeup after that and go from there.
I remind them makeup is here to enhance your features. Teach them that you don’t have to have the most expensive products or tools to execute a beautiful and simple look that makes them feel true to them.
What are some of your favorite skin care or make-up products?
Charlotte Tilbury and Danesa Myricks products are my go to! Along with Rare Beauty and Colourpop!
If a client can’t invest in getting their make-up professionally done for their photo shoot, what is the best investment they should make?
Skincare is the number one thing we discuss before investing into any makeup. Without your canvas being where you need it to be your makeup will never look how you want it. Investing into your skincare with a professional will be the best thing you can do to achieve simple looks without too much product on the skin. Once that’s complete, foundation is my favorite thing to invest in. When your foundation seeps on your skin and it looks like your satin and is beautifully matched, everything is a cherry on top to the look.
